Bijal Shah is V-Soft's HR Manager (indirect), based out of Louisville, Kentucky. She is a long-time employee and very dedicated to her job. This month we asked her for some of her thoughts. Here's what she had to say.
What brought you to V-Soft?
I was introduced to V-Soft by one of our former employees back in December of 2006. I’ll have my 10th anniversary with the company this year! The woman who referred me was a good friend, and a resource manager here at V-Soft at the time. She introduced me to Purna. When we were introduced, Puna was looking for someone who could do payroll and HR.
What do you consider a fulfilling work day?
Each and every day is unique. Our days always start and end with different and varied tasks! Getting all of our assigned tasks accomplished is fulfilling. A good challenge is to keep employees happy, too. But all in all, my favorite part of the job is doing payroll. I like working with numbers.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I want to grow as the company grows. I would not lie about it, I have really seen the company grow in the time that I’ve been here. From the time we started we had around 70 to 80 employees, and now we are at ten times that. Every day is a new experience, we learn something new every day with every new incident. Honestly, HR was never my background before working at V-Soft, but I started getting into it. It’s so different each day!
What do you think is the best thing about V-Soft?
The culture and diversity. It’s more like a homely feeling. Comfortable. It’s also good in a way that when you have things you need, you get taken care of, especially with Purna. He really takes good care of his employees. I’ve seen V-Soft growing so much, too, so I can see the difference from the day we started to where we are now. I can see us getting even better in the future.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Gardening is one of my hobbies. Produce, flowers – I do all kinds of gardening work. Even lawn mowing! (Laughs.) I like to watch a lot of TV, too. I have DISH so I can watch my Indian soaps, and a few American ones. Other channels I like to watch are Home and Garden Television and Food Network. I like to cook, too, but I don’t get into that too much.
