Written by Caitlin Soard | Mar 16, 2017 9:12:09 PM

Welcome to the first installment of our "Catching Up With" series! This month we interviewed our Business Solution team's Geoff Ritter. Geoff is a valuable part of V-Soft's ability to provide the latest business solutions for Louisville enterprises. We sat down with Geoff to learn a little more about his background, his achievements, and his hobbies. Read more here:

How did you end up in Louisville?

I was born in Cincinnati, moved to Louisville and I stayed there from the age of two to six, and then we moved to Indianapolis when I was seven. That’s where I grew up and went to high school and spent my youth.

I went to Eastern Kentucky University for college, so I moved to Kentucky at 18 and after college I did a whirlwind of cities; I started my IT staffing consulting career, as a technical recruiter, in Tampa, FL. A year later I moved to Cincinnati and lived there for four years. I lived in Indianapolis for five or six years after that and I moved to Louisville seven years ago.

Why do you like living in Louisville? What are some of your favorite places or activities to do here?

What I really like about Louisville is that you get the small town feeling in a bigger city. We’re not a huge city, but we’re a big enough city to where you can kind of hide and go off on your own if you’d like, but small enough to where you run into people and see folks you know in the community often. I like that about Louisville a lot.

I enjoy hunting and living in Kentucky allows me to pursue that hobby easily. I like to eat at Jeff Ruby’s downtown, I enjoy the Derby, it’s a great place to raise kids, and I like U of L sports.

Do you volunteer anywhere?

I am on the board of directors for the Kentucky Humane Society. I started on the board recently, in January of this year, so I’m only a couple of months in. I have a passion for animals and sometimes I like animals more than humans. I just like to give back to somebody, and there’s always a cause to give back to but unless you really care about it you won’t put 100 percent in. I really care about animals, so this is a great opportunity for me and I’m excited to help our community.

What has your V-Soft experience been like since you started?

April 15th will be my three-year anniversary at V-Soft. Previously, I had sold services to Purna. I helped install some stuff for him and that’s how we originally met. It’s been a great three years so far and I look forward to continuing to grow alongside V-Soft!

What accomplishments are you the proudest of so far?

Our Business Solutions group hadn’t grown as much and helping to grow that and grow our services was pretty cool. I’m really proud and happy I got to be on that team and watch it grow. A good thing to see in a company is your president putting money into the business to continue that trend of upward growth.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy golfing, fishing and hunting, and I enjoy cars. I like fast cars, I have an appreciation for fast cars. I wanted to be a race car driver when I was 18 years old. I wanted to skip college and go to racing school to learn to drive Formula One cars, but I went to college instead. I have two kids, 10 and three, a boy and a girl—Harper and Harris—and a pit bull mix named Gumbo and I spend a lot of time with them.
