Employee Spotlight Chicago: Gabrielle Bell, Technical Recruiter

Written by Kasey T | Jul 9, 2020 1:22:18 PM

This month's spotlight features Gabrielle Bell, a talented technical recruiter in our Chicago office that's always willing to step in when needed to make the recruiting team successful. The world of recruiting is full of interesting stories and Gabrielle was kind enough to share her experience with us and what she's learned in her role.

Describe your role at V-Soft

I source and identify quality candidates to place into open IT opportunities with our premier clients nationwide. I mainly support the Chicago office, but many times have supported the Madison and Toronto markets as well. Also, when other opportunities present themselves that are not IT related (i.e. administrative, accounting roles), I source those as well.  My role helps me build relationships and communicate effectively with the team.

What is The Best Thing About V-Soft?

One of the best things about V-Soft is the growth. I also love the Chicago office’s structure and team, and our closeness, but the whole company seems to be like one big family and it is great to see that. In addition, I admire how fellow colleagues, near or far, constantly support and encourage each other.

What is Something You're Proud to Have Accomplished at V-Soft?

I am so proud of any and all of my small wins from new connections to placements, but a huge accomplishment was being one of the top onshore IT recruiters this past quarter. I look up to these wonderful tenured recruiters on my team and to be able to excel in such a way has been a great achievement.

Any Interesting Stories in Your Line of Work?

One interesting story I can think of is when a candidate asked me to be a part of her family and said that she wanted to plan a huge Greek wedding for me with a Greek husband of her choice. It was literally our first conversation with each other; we did not know each other at all and she liked me "like a daughter.” From then on, she would call me or text me on weekends and talk for hours. Nice lady, but definitely interesting and kind of entertaining. Honestly, in this line of work there are many interesting/odd stories. People can be unique, for sure, and it can be very funny but I just continue to be nice and add to my mental repertoire of interesting stories to share.

What Do You Enjoy Doing in Your Free Time?

I enjoy being home spending time with my nieces and my dog, cooking, dancing, dabbling with the piano, traveling, and lately being in nature like going on hikes and horse riding trails.

What’s a Fun Fact About Yourself?

I won a dance contest on a cruise ship which was such a fun and random experience especially because I received a trophy and it was on my birthday a few years ago.
