Dennis Engel is the Director of Recruiting for V-Soft. He's based out of our Madison, Wisconsin office, but regularly comes to visit the Louisville, Kentucky office. This month we chose to highlight him and asked him to share his story. He's definitely got some good ones!

What brought you to V-Soft?

This is my 20th year in IT Staffing. Most of it has been as a Recruiter or a Recruiting Manager, however, I have also spent time as an Account Manager and even some time as an Entrepreneur when I started a staffing company back in the late 90s.  I love to credit Purna Veer for bringing me to V-Soft. Shortly after Purna Veer and his wife Radhika acquired Safe Bridge Solutions (prior to the eventual merger with V-Soft), Purna called me one day and recruited me.  I was, an am still, so excited about everything he was trying to accomplish and I was filled with ideas on how to fit all the puzzle pieces together.

What do you consider a fulfilling work day?

I am pretty task oriented so any time I can check something off of my to-do list, I get a warm fuzzy.  However, intellectually, I get an enormous amount of fulfillment when I get to talk with brilliant IT people. My brain struggles to ‘think in code’ and personally, I think I would get a little bored doing hands-on Administration and Engineering work all day long but I truly value the opportunity to talk about these things. I especially love it when a candidate or colleague helps me understand a deep technical concept.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Congratulating Purna on V-Soft becoming a billion dollar company.

What do you think is the best thing about V-Soft?

Our aggressiveness and can-do attitude. We are not afraid to get creative and try new things.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to spend time with my wife, our son, and our two dogs.  I especially like fishing in Northern Wisconsin in the summer.

Do you have a fun fact about yourself?

Well many people have heard many of the crazier ‘fun facts’ about me, but here is a new one: when my son was very young, my wife was taking him on a weekend trip without me.  When I told and old college buddy about this he said, “Awesome. Bachelor weekend!  What are we going to do?!” My response? “I’m building a Linux server!” True story.
