Employee Spotlight: Jessica Gassler, Marketing Assistant

Written by Jessica Gassler | Jun 1, 2016 6:18:22 PM

This month we are highlighting Jessica from the Marketing Department. With a history in both graphic design and marketing, she helps advertise and maintain V-Soft's branding and imaging. Here is what she had to say.

What is your experience in? What brought you to V-Soft?

Well, honestly, my experience has been all over the board. I’ve done PC repair, car sales, retail, graphic design, food services, and marketing. I've got a degree in communication arts (which is a hybrid of graphic design and marketing). So, yeah, all over the place.

I was very fortunate to be brought into the V-Soft family last year. After telling my yoga instructor before a class that I needed to find a new job, I silenced my phone and began class. When I turned my phone back on there was a message from Anna, one of the recruiters at V-Soft, saying my resume fit the bill to the job that they were hiring for perfectly. The rest is history!

What do you consider a fulfilling work day?

As my job is very task-oriented, I love seeing my to-do-list either shrinking significantly or reaching the end of it. I also love the feedback I get from those that we work with and receiving thanks for getting projects to them on time. It’s nice to feel appreciated.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Still at V-Soft, of course! My current goal is to be in a managerial role within a few years. Don’t have a 5-year plan yet, but it’s definitely a start!

What do you think is the best thing about V-Soft?

The relaxed culture, no question. Everyone here is very friendly, social, and willing to help you whenever you need it. It’s rare to be in an office environment with little to no gossip being spread around, but that’s what we experience here at V-Soft. It’s like a dream!

What do you like to do in your free time?

Oh, gosh. I am a video gamer at heart and love playing PC and console games alike. I also enjoy writing and illustrating when I get the chance to. If I’m not drawing, writing, or playing games, I’m spending time with my husband, our two cats (Tweak and Kitty), and our dog, Mason.

Do you have a fun fact about yourself?

I started learning how to cook "real" meals in the past year thanks to Pinterest and my husband helping me. I used to brag that I made a mean macaroni and cheese out of the box, but now I can do that and then some! I'm starting to experiment with recipes now - for example, I recently made an imitation version of Olive Garden's zuppa toscana, a potato, kale, and sausage based soup. It came out awesome!
