Employee Spotlight Cincinnati: Nick Phillips, IT Operations Manager

Written by Brianna Kolder | Feb 3, 2021 7:09:04 PM

This month's spotlight is all about a rockstar member of the V-Soft Infrastructure (VSI) team. Nick Phillips, V-Soft's IT Operations Manager, has been an asset to growing and expanding the VSI brand. Nick is located out of our Cincinnati office but is often out traveling to client sites. We sat down with Nick to learn a little more about his role and how he enjoys his free time - when he has it!

Describe Your Title and Role at V-Soft

I am the IT Operations Manager with V-Soft Infrastructure and have been with the company for a little more than a year and a half. As an IT Operations Manager, my primary job is to oversee the day-to-day operations for the Managed Services and internal IT teams. This can include establishing and implementing IT policies and procedures, handling hardware and software procurement, monitoring/troubleshooting IT servers and systems, and handling internal and external projects (just to name a few).

What is Your Favorite Thing About V-Soft?

Without a doubt, my favorite thing about working at V-Soft has been the culture. My coworkers, the executive leadership, and the way employees are treated here really help define a company culture unlike any I've been a part of. It's what makes V-Soft such a great place to work, and it's what makes this the first job I've had that I actually enjoyed doing.

What is Something You're Proud to have Accomplished?

I'm probably most proud of the way my department has worked to turn around the relationships with our MSP customers. The feedback we had received from some of our customers about their experience with V-Soft as a service provider left much to be desired. However, through some redefined processes, a few new employees and a customer-first approach, we completely transformed that perception.

What do you Like to do in Your Free Time?

I'm a homebody at heart, so whatever free time I manage to come across these days is mostly spent at home with family. Whenever I get the opportunity however, I do try to get out on the weekends to play some type of sport. Although I've played in many different leagues in the past, my most recent go-to has been hockey.

What is a Fun Fact About Yourself?

After 3 years on the waiting list, my wife and I recently received adoption placement of our daughter. It was a very long and drawn out process, but it was certainly worth the wait.
