From Astronauts to Video and Computer Game Testers, there are IT jobs of all shapes and sizes that appeal to different types of people with varying interests and talents. Like any industry, in IT there are a few stand-out occupations that rise above the rest and become one of the jobs that you wish you had.

Ever thought about playing video games for the rest of your life? A quality assurance tester does just that. They test a video/computer game for the many glitches and bugs that can occur in the various levels of a video game. Each tester is assigned a specific level or section of the game which they repetitively test. Their ultimate goal is to find as many bugs as possible.

Information Security Crime Investigator/Forensics Expert

An information security crime investigator analyzes how intruders are able to breach the infrastructure of different systems in order to detect further networks that have been compromised. To recognize and track these intricate and complex attacks requires an expert who is well versed in the newest forensic response and reverse engineering skills, but is knowledgeable in the most cutting-edge exploit methodologies. Think of the information security crime investigators as the virtual police, they track criminals online and try to spot their patterns in order to catch and prevent further crimes from happening.

Software developers are behind the design, installation, testing and upkeep of software systems. The job of a software developer is very versatile and can be used in nearly every industry. Financials, human resources, gaming, mobile applications, and much more are all created and maintained by software developers.

3D Animation/ Graphic Designer

Diving into the more artistic domain of IT, a graphic designer or a 3D animation artist creates original graphics and artwork for a variety of programs, games, videos, and websites. Having knowledge about different animation and graphic design software is a must, and like all software it is always changing.

System, Network, and/or Web Penetration Tester

This expert finds the holes in the security of target systems, networks, and applications in order to help organizations improve their security. The penetration tester identifies these gaps in the security and how they can be exploited, they provide essential insight and help to prioritize security issues for businesses. Without the help of a penetration tester many company’s records and information would be leaked to the public. Basically put, these people get paid to be hackers, which is cool.
