Top Recruiting Tips for Hiring Managers

Finding the right staff members to round out your team can be challenging. Especially taking into consideration your company culture and the needs of your department. Luckily, we've gathered some of the best recruting tips out there to help you find that perfect fit for your company's family.

Have a Great Online Presence

Simply putting up a job listing online isn't enough to attract the best-of-the-best candidates. If you post a job listing and don't have a great online presence, you're not going to get many leads. Some quick ways to make sure your online presence is on-par:

  • Have consistent branding across Facebook, Twitter and any other platforms you may be using
  • Make sure your website is up-to-date. If you haven't looked at it in a while, go back and do a quick review. Your website is often the first thing people see about your company, so you want to make yourselves look good!
  • Check your Glassdoor reviews. If they're good, awesome! That will help you. If they aren't so great, figure out how you can improve upon the things that were mentioned in the review.

Remember: It's a Two-Way Street

It is important to treat recruting as a two-way street: Candidates are looking at many other employers just as you are looking at other candidates. Make yourself attractive to them. If you have a great company culture, brag about it! It is important to sell yourself as an employer just as it is to sell yourself as an employee during an interview.

Make Applications Quick and Easy

If you have a clunky application process, or if your application process requires candidates to fill out pages and pages of forms, they're simply not going to do it! It makes your company look outdated and, if you're looking for the best-of-the-best, they are probably too busy to fill out a resume before they're allowed to submit their real resume. Make applying for the position easy for candidates; they'll appreciate you for it.

These are just a few tips to get you started on the road to efficient staffing. Whether you're planning to hire seasonally, or outsource, properly planning with your staffing team can help your company get the best candidates for the job.
