The success of a business relies on a successful Human Resource department, and if you've worked with V-Soft for just one day or several years, you know that Lindsay Holguin is a key part of that success! Lindsay is a HR Specialist for V-Soft based out of our Madison office. Among many things, she makes sure that all onboarding and offboarding processes go smoothly. Lindsay shares her greatest accomplishment over the years and talks about an awesome dance she shared with one of the world's biggest superstars!
Describe Your Role at V-Soft
As an HR specialist, I conduct onboarding and offboarding procedures and provide quality customer service on the direct side of the company. I also deal with background check compliance and internal auditing of our systems on a monthly basis. I work with the ServiceNow team conducting UAT to ensure Employee Portal is working properly and help come up with ways to make the system easier to use. I also create the manuals to navigate through the ServiceNow Employee Portal (Open Enrollment, PTO, Expense and Travel guides) And of course, working on HR projects as they arise. On top of that, I am also the office administrator for the Wisconsin office: Planning all events, setting up new hire stations/offices, ordering office supplies for WI and IL, helping to gather items for job fairs or conventions and everything in-between.
What is The Best Thing About V-Soft?
I would have to say the people I work with. Not only within my own team and other departments, but also the Wisconsin office. We have such a strong group of people in the office that makes coming to work enjoyable. There are several different departments that work in our office but we truly care and value one another and appreciate what each of us brings to the company.
What Has Been Your Greatest Accomplishment in the Past Year?
I went back to college! After work, I hit the books to get a degree in HR Management. Going back to school is definitely rewarding but tough. Especially since the last time I was in college was almost a decade ago. I am doing online courses so it makes it more convenient than having to go into a lecture hall but that does not mean it’s easier! I find it more challenging than the on campus route. But I'm loving what I'm learning and I hope to apply my knowledge to my every day work life and to help better myself.
Where do You See Yourself in 5 Years?
As the company continues to grow, I can see myself being in a more targeted position within the HR department rather than the generalist type role I'm currently in.
What do You Enjoy Doing in Your Free-time?
My fiancé and I love to hit up the brewery, festival and food scenes in Madison and Milwaukee. We also love grilling and swimming in the lake during summer and spending time with both of our families.
What's a Fun Fact About Yourself?
I’m a big concert goer. Most Memorable: Coheed and Cambria, Sabaton, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Major Lazor, 3OH!3, Muse, Tiesto, Modest Mouse with Gogol Bordello. One of my favorite memories was at the Major Lazor show. It was at a festival 10 years ago, and it was such a crowded space that people were basically on top of each other. I turn around to look for the people I came with and Beyoncé was standing right next to them! Jay Z was performing at the festival which was why she was there. I was trying not to freak out but I couldn’t hide it. For some reason, I just froze and waved at her at in the middle of a concert crowd and she waved back and continued dancing along side us for like 5 minutes.
