V-Soft couldn’t be more proud to introduce Eric Kelty and George Ellis, two of our senior consultants. Both of them specialize in higher education. Together they are an unstoppable force in higher education IT. Learn some of the challenges of higher education and how they plan to resolve them today.
Meet Eric Kelty
Eric Kelty is V-Soft’s Senior Sales Consultant, Higher Education based out of Sarasota, FL. With more than 14 years of experience in technical recruiting, having previously owned his own successful construction company and having worked for the University of Florida for a number of years, Eric knows what it’s like from both sides of the business. When he is not at work, he attends HEUG meetups and enjoys spending time with his family.
The Importance of Teamwork, Trust, Transparency, and Accountability
If there’s one thing that Eric is passionate about, it’s his leadership strategy that he calls TTTA, or the “three-Ts-and-an-A” approach. It stands for Teamwork, Trust, Transparency, and Accountability. It is a leadership strategy focused on engagement and true goals, rather than just trying to improve productivity by using scare tactics or negative consequences.
Eric wrote a blog post about the TTTA approach and how it has earned V-Soft great success. Customers have come to expect a certain level of service, and this post will give you good insight on how this leadership strategy will meet not only your customers' expectations, but your team's, as well.
Introducing George Ellis
George Ellis is V-Soft Consulting's Higher Education Consultant based in Orlando, Florida. George has over 25 years of experience in working in higher education, primarily working in IT. Having worked in both higher education and the private sector, George is very well-rounded and knows the similarities and difference between each. Connect with George on LinkedIn.
The Benefits of Outsourcing in Higher Education
The biggest issues in higher education include a struggle to maintain resources, along with funding (and lack thereof). With that being said, outsourcing certain departments -- such as IT -- are becoming more and more appealing over time to higher education institutes. George wrote a blog post in regards to why outsourcing is becoming almost a necessity in the realm of higher education. In this blog post, he explains how these institutes are able to not only save money, but develop (or improve) their processes.
According to a survey crafted by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), when asked what respondents thought of when hearing the word “outsourcing,” a group of higher education executives' definitions were consistent and simplistic: “Hiring an outside source to perform a service more efficiently, better, or at a lower cost than you can do it yourself.” Most of the respondents said outsourcing was a good thing. The most common examples that were brought to mind were the traditional and conventional applications of bookstore, food service, and custodial services.
