Employee Spotlight: Ron Reeves, VP of Business Solutions

Ron Reeves is V-Soft's Vice President of Business Solutions. He leads the Business Solutions team and helps to identify top talent, as well as empower them with robust tools and processes so that they can focus on delivering value. We sat down with Ron to learn a little more about his role here, his goals for Business Solutions, and his interesting history.

What is your experience in? What brought you to V-Soft?

I started my career in engineering. I came to work at GE appliances here in Louisville, Kentucky. I got into IT, owned a small business, merged with an ad agency and worked there for a while and then grew my career by managing enterprise teams. And then I came to V-Soft after leaving another offshore development company to help grow the Business Solutions practice and our offshore capabilities.

What do you consider a fulfilling workday?

Basically, good interactions with my team members and progress toward our goals. I feel I’m successful if the members of my team are working efficiently and have what they need. If Itry tointerfer as little as possible, to get out of the way of their doing great things.

So, to me, the opposite of having to do a lot of firefighting and being able to plan strategically with a team is the most fulfilling workday.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself here, at V-Soft. I see the practice being a lot more mature, larger with more verticals and technological diverse practice areas that will give V-Soft more coverage. Although as a company V-Soft does business with clients across the nation in Business Solutions we are still limited to certain geographies relevant to our office locations.

I’m looking forward to using our national footprint as a lever to tap into markets across North America and continue to grow this little tree of technological innovation that we’ve sprouted over the last couple of years.

What is the best thing about V-Soft?

Really, the resources of a medium-sized company and the experience in so many aspects of enterprise IT combined with experience in the staffing space is a unique combination few others bring to the table.  While maintaining a very entrepreneurial environment, we can grow and identify opportunities that are promising and not be subject to immediate ROI but a longer term view. Our expertise in mobile development, big data, and leading platforms like ServiceNow and MuleSoft make us a compelling partner. These points are what really drew me to V-Soft and keeps me here.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to take nature walks. I enjoy spending time with my kids, driving them to practice, and watching them play archery or whatever they are doing. And I always have a good show going on Netflix with my wife, that’s another big one.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I used to work for NASA. Started my career as an aeronautical, aerospace engineer. I co-opted NASA for a number of semesters and that was really cool. I am a private pilot; not really active now, but I will be again one day when the kids get a little bit older and colleges get paid for.
